February 13: Meeting Sponsorship opportunities
Effective immediately we are soliciting sponsorship for our monthly meetings. The purpose of this is twofold:
1. To provide an opportunity to inform members about security related solutions and services available to them and their parent organizations, and
2. To raise money for the chapter.
Vendors, solution providers, and any other interested parties may purchase a meeting sponsorship for a nominal fee and receive the following:
* Company logo and information added to that month's chapter newsletter.
* Company logo and information added to the chapter website
* Opportunity to conduct a short presentation immediately prior to the monthly meeting
* Opportunity to set up a display with products, literature, etc. at the monthly meeting
* Opportunity to network with meeting attendees (always available to any attendee, of
course)

We are scheduling the meetings for 2012. Please contact John Hassard with any offers or suggestions for meeting speakers or activities.
February 13: Job Postings
We are adding a job search page to our website. Please contact John Hassard to post a job, or to add a link to a job search related website. Postings on the job board are free for members and non-members for 2012!
February 13: National Dues Reminder
Please note that ASIS International membership must be renewed by the end of February. If you are an ASIS member, please ensure you have renewed for this year to avoid interruption of benefits and the Security Management magazine.
Of course, ASIS International Membership is not required to attend the Birmingham ASIS meetings.
February 13: Scholarship notice
ASIS Foundation and University of Phoenix Partner to offer new scholarships
The Foundation and University of Phoenix will award two (2) full-tuition scholarships to two ASIS members in 2012. Each scholarship will allow a prospective student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master’s degree program through the College of Criminal Justice and Security at University of Phoenix. Recipients may choose to attend a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or may attend University of Phoenix online. Applications are being accepted February 8, through April 2, 2012. January 10: Chapter Dues
Chapter dues were increased to $30.00/year in November. Please remit at the next meeting or contact the Chapter Treasurer, Yvette Ysasaga for additional payment and invoicing options.
January 10: Meeting Dates and Times for 2012
Our meetings will now occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (Except February, it will be the 2nd Monday, February 13). They will remain at 11:30 (fellowship and lunch) to 1:00 in the Electra Room in the Alabama Power Atrium. Meetings remain free of charge; Lunch may be purchased at the Alabama Power Atrium Cafe if desired by members and non members.
January 10: CEU Credits for Chapter Meetings
Beginning with the January 2012 meeting we will be offering CEU credits for those who need them. These are open to all who attend the meetings, members and non members. Contach Chapter Vice Charman John Hassard for additional information.
January 10: Meeting Sponsorship and Door Prize
Beginning with the January 2012 meeting we will raffle door prizes. All meeting participants are eligible. A member of the Birmingham Chapter, Carol Dodgen of Dodgen & Associates has been invited to be a presenter at the 57th Annual ASIS International Seminar in Orlando in September.
Carol's topic is "Examination of Workplace Violence - Recognize and Diffuse. Congratulations Carol!
